The Missouri team this year can be better than ANY previous. Before you say, "this team is filled with transfers" and only 3 returning players. My response is;
We are returning TWO of the best PG's in Phil Pressey and Mike Dixon (6th man of the year). Dixon should be starting at the 2 spot, making Pressey and Dixon one of the best guard duo's in the country.
As a backup, Keion Bell, who AA Marcus Denmon said was all but unguardable in practice, will be available. If that isnt enough at guard, the 2011 top 20 recruit Jabari Brown will be eligible at the beginning of conference play,. (" this kid is unbelievable" -Kim English)
Earnest Ross, the best player at Auburn, (yes, I know, it's Auburn). From everything I've heard, he is the best player on last years team, yet unable to play. I saw him play at the B and G game and he was absolutely awesome.
Laurence Bowers is back! Ask Mike Anderson about him. He is a human highlight reel.
Alex Oriakhi. This man will be great. He was the unfortunate "fallguy" on last years UCONN team. (Calhoun completely screwed up this team. Boatright should have been the PG on this team, not Napier) As well as completely screwing up in-game strategy. With Pressey, he will be a double-double guy.
Many will point out our horrible stats on defense last year, i.e. our poor opponent fg%, rebounding, etc.
Our lack of size and depth required us to play less than stellar defense. We could not afford to defend the way we were able because we could not afford foul trouble. We made the decision to make teams beat us on the perimeter, hence our opponents above average shooting fg%. That will not be a problem this year.
Expect us to defend ferociously, from the perimeter to the post. What teams in the SEC can match up with us? And how?
Dont take my confidence for ignorance. I know there are several good teams in the SEC. Of course Kentucky, but I'm interested in yall KY fans answer to my above points. Florida, is a great team, but how do they match up?, Same thing with Tenuhsee, arky, Alabama? (I really like Bama, UT, (FU Arky) )
I havent spoken of the incoming freshman as they will probably play mostly during the non important minutes (although, this year, they might be many)
Point me to a team that compares!
Before you say, "Chemistry will be a problem with all the Transfers"; know that the majority of the starters were the scout squad for one of the most unselfish teams last year. They know what to do! Look out SEC.
